Description

Bitmain introduced the Antminer KS5 Pro in March 2024, an air-cooled Kaspa miner for the kHeavyHash algorithm. It is built exclusively for kHeavyHash, the algorithm behind Kaspa. Bitmain made it in two performance levels of 20 and 21 TH/s, both at 150 joules per terahash. The unit has four fans, weighs 15.8 kilograms, and the input is single-phase at 220 to 277 volts.

Bitmain sold the 20 TH/s level without the Pro suffix as the Antminer KS5; chips, housing and power supply are the same, and only a few of them were ever sold. Both figures are typical values: in operation the hashrate varies by up to three percent, power draw and efficiency by up to five percent, and that margin belongs in the sizing of the circuit protection.

Design, power connection and cooling of the KS5 Pro

Without packaging the KS5 Pro measures 400 × 195 × 290 mm; the shipping box is 570 × 316 × 430 mm and weighs 17.7 kilograms when packed. At 76 dBA with 25-degree intake air and fans at full speed, the KS5 Pro is not for offices or living space; it belongs where the noise bothers nobody, or in hosting. It operates between 0 and 40 degrees and is stored between minus 20 and 70 degrees, in each case at 10 to 90 percent humidity without condensation. The 3,150 watts leave the unit almost entirely as warm exhaust air, and the room ventilation has to be sized for that.

The power supply is built in and rated at 4,000 watts, a good 25 percent of headroom above the nominal draw. Unlike the KS3 with its two power cords, the KS5 Pro runs on a single cord at 20 amps and 47 to 63 hertz, and Bitmain explicitly warns that a wrong input voltage destroys the miner. For the connection to the pool an RJ45 port at 10/100 Mbit is all it takes; mining needs no more bandwidth than that.

Comparison with the previous and next generation of the KS5 Pro

The predecessor is the Antminer KS3, Bitmain's first Kaspa miner, shipping since August 2023. The next generation is the Antminer KS7, on the market since May 2025 in three levels from 36 to 45 TH/s. The three units compared:

  • Antminer KS3: 372 J/TH (9.4 TH/s at 3,500 W)
  • Antminer KS5 Pro: 150 J/TH (20 to 21 TH/s at 3,000 to 3,150 W)
  • Antminer KS7: 77 J/TH (36 to 45 TH/s at 2,772 to 3,465 W)

From the KS3 to the KS5 Pro, Bitmain more than doubled the hashrate and cut the power per terahash to less than half, in practically the same housing and at a lower power draw. The KS7 repeats that step a good year later and halves the power per terahash once more, which is why a KS5 Pro in hosting today has to be measured against the KS7. Verdict: Kaspa mining with the Antminer KS5 Pro

We have been selling the KS5 Pro since early summer 2024. Our experience with it is neutral: it runs solidly, but it has caused the occasional problem.

What we have seen now and then are failed power supplies and dead temperature sensors on the hashboards, and the KS5 Pro does not tolerate high temperatures well. Custom firmware for the KS5 Pro exists only from NiceHash and only with a Cracker Card in the control board, and that route works solely on stock firmware released before April 2024.

The KS5 Pro is a solid miner from Bitmain and today the affordable entry into Kaspa mining. Whether it pays off at your electricity price is shown by our Kaspa mining calculator. How does buying a miner work?

The process is clear and done in a few steps: you enquire about the device you want, you receive a written quote with the final price from us, and as soon as you accept it, we issue the invoice. After full payment is received, we trigger the order and the hardware is on its way to you.

How can I pay?

You can pay conveniently by bank transfer in euros, in crypto (Bitcoin or USDC) or in cash against a receipt.

As throughout our business, payment is in advance: we trigger the order as soon as payment has been received in full. That keeps the process clean and predictable for both sides.

Are there discounts for larger quantities?

Yes, discounts are possible for larger quantities. How large they are depends on several factors - the device, the quantity, the delivery location and the respective procurement conditions.

That's why we state the right price best directly in an individual quote. Just tell us the model and the quantity you want and we'll work it out for you.

What is included in the delivery?

On modern ASIC miners the power supply is built firmly into the machine and is therefore always included - it does not have to be bought separately. An external power supply only existed with very old first-generation models.

So you receive a ready-to-run device. Whatever else specifically belongs to the respective product is stated in the product description; in case of doubt we clarify it in the quote.

Is the miner in stock and how quickly is it delivered?

You can see availability directly on the product; in case of doubt we confirm it in the quote. The majority of our hardware is located in our main warehouse in Hong Kong and is shipped from there directly to your destination.

Individual devices are in stock in Germany (Hamm) - those reach you particularly quickly. We state the concrete delivery date bindingly in the quote, as soon as device and destination are clear.

How is it delivered - internationally and with customs clearance too?

We deliver worldwide. We handle the shipping and the complete import processing including customs clearance for you - you don't have to deal with it yourself. We state the shipping costs transparently in the quote.

That way the miner arrives ready to use at your place or the desired site. On request we deliver directly to our hosting, then the device goes into operation without a detour.

What requirements do I need for operation?

To operate at home or in your own business you mainly need three things: a suitable power connection (ASIC miners draw several kilowatts continuously, large devices often three-phase power), enough space with ventilation, and a stable internet connection via LAN.

On top of that come noise and waste heat: air-cooled devices are very loud and heat the room noticeably. Anyone who doesn't meet these requirements usually has the miner hosted - then we take care of power, cooling and operation.

How do I set up the miner and can I get help?

Commissioning is straightforward: connect the device, plug it into the network and configure it to your mining pool and wallet. After that the miner runs around the clock.

We don't leave you alone with it - we support you with setting up pool and wallet and the first steps, even without prior experience. Your personal contact is available for questions.

What warranty do I have on the device?

As a German company we offer you 12 months' warranty on your hardware as standard.

Alternatively, you can exclude the warranty in the purchase contract and handle it via the manufacturer's warranty - then the device becomes cheaper. We offer both routes; which one makes sense for you we clarify in the quote.

Can I have this miner hosted directly instead of running it myself?

Yes. You can buy the device from us and have it hosted in the same step - then it runs at a site with low-cost electricity, without noise and heat at your home.

As a business customer, can I cancel or return?

We sell our devices to businesses (B2B). A statutory consumer right of withdrawal therefore does not apply in B2B business; in addition, we procure and import the hardware specifically for your order.
